Team News
Liverpool
It was confirmed yestersay, Saturday 11th September that Liverpool’s Brazillians are eligble to play this weekend, after the threat of triggering the FIFA 5 day rule for self isolation. Following negotiations, this has been waived.
Although the Brazillians in the Liverpool squad are eligble, this doesn’t anything for Roberto Firmino who has only just returned to light training following a minor hamstring injury. It is most likely that Diogo Jota will be the man to replace him.
Harvey Elliott and Virgil Van Dijk have been declared fit and well, and will both be in the the match day squad to face Leeds.
Leeds United
The biggest and only piece of news for Leeds is the highly anticipated debut of their long desired signing, Daniel James. Leeds tried to sign the Welshman in January 2019 before Swansea pulled out of the deal, before he signed for Manchester United in the following summer.
With the prior drama behind them, the Leeds fans will be excited to see what is to come from James, and they’ll be begging for him to show his quality today against Liverpool.
Predictions
In paper, Liverpool are the favourites for the game at Elland Road today, but Leeds should not be written off. Bielsa’s men have been known to cause an upset, and play attractive attacking football, albeit they can definitely be exposed defensively.
My prediction for the game is a 3-1 win for Liverpool, with the scorers being Jota, Salah x2 for Liverpool, and Patrick Bamford for Leeds United.
